Further growth for York hospitality group with latest bar acquisition
We’re delighted to have advised York-based hospitality group Fabler & Co (“Fabler”), on its acquisition of one of the city’s most iconic bars, The House of Trembling Madness on Lendal, as the company grows its hospitality portfolio following the purchase of York’s Dusk Bar in 2022.
Fabler – owned by husband-and-wife directors Richard and Amanda Monaghan, and Andrew Lowson – also owns Thor’s Tipis, which launched in 2015 and has grown successfully to offer seasonal tipis in cities including York, Leeds and London during the summer and at Christmas.
The group has acquired Trembling Madness on Lendal from Ian Loftus, who will continue running the original Trembling Madness on Stonegate, as well as his beer distribution business.
Fabler was advised by Andrew Jackson’s corporate partner, Susie Mortonson, along with Daniel Sowden and Louise Barnaby at BHP’s York office.
Amanda Monaghan said: – “It’s been a pleasure working with Susie and her team throughout the transaction. They were organised, diligent and most importantly flexible to ours and the vendor’s needs. It wasn’t always the easiest process, but we felt supported and guided at all times.”
