Yorkshire 3 Peaks Success
On Friday 6 June, Geoff Philips, Darren Hall, Terry Hope, Byron Swarbrick and Paul Newbon completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge as part of ABP’s King George Dock centenary celebrations to raise funds for a much needed extra classroom for Marfleet Primary School. After a night under canvas, the group rose at dawn for a kit check and briefing before setting off from Horton-in-Ribblesdale at just before 7am. Ably supported by Andrew Oliver, who provided much needed refreshments en route, the group were the 2nd team in and managed the round of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in just under 11.5 hours. All in glorious sunshine and with only a few blisters to show for the effort!
Much recovered, the group are now considering undertaking the National 3 Peaks Challenge – Watch this space!
