Why we’re supporting Dying Matters Awareness Week

Dying Matters Awareness Week (6-12 May) is an annual campaign set up by Hospice UK, which brings an incredibly sensitive and difficult subject to the fore by encouraging conversations about death, dying, and bereavement.

This year, the campaign’s focus is “How we talk about Dying Matters” and in particular, the language used in conversations between healthcare and legal professionals, patients, carers, and families regarding death and dying.

Starting conversations about dying is often not as hard as people might think. Honest and timely discussions about these topics are essential for good end-of-life care, yet barriers such as lack of confidence and taboos often prevent people from fully understanding or receiving the necessary support to ensure their wishes are fulfilled.

We are proud to have a dedicated and compassionate private client team who recognise the importance of helping you plan ahead, and who are able to guide you through the legal aspects of making a Will, recording your wishes, preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney and organising your affairs before you die.

Solicitor Charlene Merry is also an associate member of the Lifetime Lawyers Association, a UK wide organisation which aims to set the standards for the highest quality legal advice in areas such as Wills, Powers of Attorney and Elder Abuse. Charlene is passionate about ensuring clients receive legal advice delivered with care and compassion.
