Andrew Jackson advises The Ice Co Storage & Logistics on its purchase of Savage Haulage
We are delighted to have advised The Ice Co Storage & Logistics Holdings Limited, a major cold storage business with operations across the North, on its acquisition of East Anglian based Savage Haulage Ltd, in a multi-million pound deal.
The Ice Co Storage & Logistics operates from sites in Newcastle, Preston and Wakefield and provides storage, logistics, blast freezing and tempering services with space for over 51,000 pallets.
Savage Haulage is one of the largest temperature-controlled storage and logistics businesses in East Anglia with sites in March, Cambridgeshire, and Thetford, Norfolk. The company has been a family business for 60 years run by brothers Martyn and John Savage. Last year, the business generated £5.9 million in revenues.
Paul Martin, managing director of The Ice Co. Storage & Logistics, said :- “The acquisition of Savage Haulage provides us with greater geographic reach and capacity and allows us to benefit from greater economies of scale in the face of inflationary pressures, which are eroding margins across the haulage and cold storage industry. Combining operations puts us on a firm footing for growth in the years ahead.”
The Ice Co Storage & Logistics’ legal advice was provided by our corporate partner, Nick Scott, who was supported by property partner, Adrian West, and other members of the firm.
Nick Scott said : – “It has been a pleasure to advise our clients on their purchase of Savage Haulage Ltd. The acquisition sees our clients extend their well-established business into a new geographical location, which will only strengthen its market position.”
