Andrew Jackson welcomes another Solicitor to it’s Contentious Probate Practice

We’re pleased to announce that solicitor Ben Naylor has joined the firm’s contentious probate practice, strengthening the existing team and client offering across the region.

Ben brings extensive experience and receives instructions in relation to claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, probate actions, and advises in relation to the validity of wills, trusts, the Court of Protection, and various other contentious probate issues.   In addition, Ben has extensive experience in dealing with mainstream non-contentious probate cases and likes to focus on particularly niche matters, including the applications under the Forfeiture Act 1982, Fiat Copy Wills, and international probate matters (including re-seal applications and affidavits of foreign law). He has also acted for registered charities as both executor and beneficiary and regularly worked with genealogists on complex intestacy cases.

Having gained experience in other firms since beginning his career in 2013, Ben was among the first in Hull & East Yorkshire to be accepted onto the Law Society’s Solicitor Apprentice programme in 2018. After graduating from the University of Law and successfully completing both SQE exams, Ben recently qualified as a solicitor. He currently serves as president of the Hull and East Yorkshire Junior Lawyers Division.

Ben said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Andrew Jackson. The firm’s reputation for providing clear, pragmatic advice and supporting clients through complex and sensitive matters is something I really value. I look forward to working with my colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.”

Sarah Thomsen, partner, and head of contentious probate, commented: “I couldn’t be happier that Ben has joined the team.  I have worked with Ben for many years and his vast experience in non-contentious probate complements his litigation work.”

Nick Dean, partner, and head of commercial litigation & dispute resolution, added: “I am delighted that Ben has joined Andrew Jackson – and especially pleased that he has joined us and then qualified almost immediately. His experience across both contentious and non-contentious probate matters, including more specialist areas, will make a real difference to our clients. Ben’s appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to building a strong, client-focused team in the region.”
