Andrew Jackson’s York Office Facilitates Trio of Transactions Approaching £80 Million
We are delighted that our York office recently facilitated three transactions with an aggregate value approaching £80 million.
The transactions comprised advising on a vendor initiated management buy-out (VIMBO) of an engineering business based in the West Midlands, which was led by corporate partner Philip Ashworth, and the acquisition of an undisclosed company led by corporate partner, Matthew Smith.
Property partner Helen Mellors led a multi-disciplinary team that advised the Kexgill Group, one of the largest privately owned student accommodation specialists in the UK, on a £60 million University Quarter housing project in Hull. Grace Moreton, who was recently appointed as a solicitor following the successful completion of her training contract, assisted the team across all three transactions.
Richard Stott, managing director of the Kexgill Group, said: – “Andrew Jackson ensures our best interests are looked after in fairly complex multi-property transactions. They have continued to act on our behalf, helping expansion of the group including our £60m University Quarter opening in September this year. In such times of exciting growth for Kexgill, both regionally and nationally, it’s vital to know that our legal interests are in safe hands. Philip and the Andrew Jackson team work as an extension of our own, and have a solid knowledge of our particular requirements and commercial objectives.”
Philip Ashworth added: – “Our team has worked with all three clients for many years and, in the case of Kexgill, the client relationship spans over 25 years, so it’s particularly rewarding to see these well-established businesses go from strength to strength. We were delighted to rise to the challenge and successfully complete all three transactions within the space of a week.
“Andrew Jackson continues to thrive with a clear focus on delivering exceptional legal services built around the specific needs of our clients. We are delighted to be able to help them realise their ambitions.”
Since opening our York office almost five years ago in December 2013 – and opening a fourth regional office in Scarborough in 2016 – we continue to grow and strengthen our client offering, with three team members joining the York office in the past six months.
